weight in gold
flowering through the fragments of the mundane and memorable
in retrospect the path is more clear
an ineffable mode of being captured through broken images
unravel the unfamiliar and piece together what you know
my first impression of this city was that it's dipped in gold
"Weight in Gold" is the product of piecing together of my perception as I went through a drastic change of my surroundings, social and interpersonal life. with these photos I speak upon how unfamiliarity altered my perception of myself and those around me. these images have no set place, but instead represent an ineffable mode of being. the fragmentation of place and subject were important factors in representing the intangibility of relationships I felt while here. The retrospectivity of the project and the method of making work I used while in this foreign place mimicked my thought process; reflective, intending to create my own non-place.
